The past few days have been incredible.
Between hours on the beach, at the pool, exploring the nearby forest, watching German cartoons, and deciphering the Spanish & Catalan menus at the cafes, I haven't had a chance to blog. As promised, this post will be mostly pictures with brief descriptions! Enjoy, and I miss you all back home.
...and took a quick trip to the beach and to downtown Sitges for the afternoon

Lou's newest skill: drinking from cups
missing my buddy :(
Sunday, at the beach!
When I signed up for another half-marathon taking place in October, I didn't plan to start training until July. But living in Spain with two intense athletes is the perfect opportunity. Today, Imke wrote out a training plan for me (including a cleansing diet!) and I went for an amazing 30 minute jog in the forest along the Meditterranean sea. After 30 minutes of the sun beating down on me, I couldn't resist taking a dive in the gorgeous sea-side pool and only stopped my laps a few times to admire the ships sailing by. It's cliche, but I really do think I'm in paradise.
p.s. I finally made the delayed realization that the reason I wasn't able to read all of the store signs, billboards, and menus is because it's all in Catalan! Still, I had a half-way decent conversation in Spanish with an 8 year old girl at the pool, the neighborhood security guard, and a jogger today!

Katherine, you are staying actually in Sitges as opposed to within the City of Barcelona?
ReplyDeleteThe pictures look like a lot of the town is the same as when I was there many years ago.
When I was there the tourist area was all within 3-4 blocks of the beaches and the real Espana was started another 4-5 blocks away from the beach...the tourist prices were 4-10 times what the locals paid. I wandered the back streets and not only got the best bargains despite the fact that Hablo espanol poco. but had, by far, the more interesting and fun experience. I look forward to more of your posts, as they are quite interesting.
With luck you will get enough time to see Ciudad Barcelona, which I only saw for a couple hours.
