A beber y a tragar, que el mundo se va a acabar.

It's been so long since I've posted, but I've had such great fun these past few days! After two weeks of uber-healthy eating, I'm starting to have cravings for bread, cheese, and chicken especially. When out with friends at the bars or adventuring in Barca, I've been pigging out on sandwiches, pizza, and potatochips! Can't wait for the pasta and pizza in Italy...

Here are some random pictures from mornings at the park and playing around with Lou...
I love Lou's outfit in the following pictures.. James Dean look alike?

Last Sunday, I had a miserable bike ride where I rode for 20 minutes uphill in the wrong direction before reaching Sitges, where a refreshing Coca Cola with Aida and Jasmin at the Sailing club validated my struggles. After that, I met Imke, Ludovic, and Lou at the beach to babysit a bit while Imke & Ludovic went for an open water swim.

On Monday, after a battle with the public transportation system which included two buses, a train, and a metro ride, I braved Barcelona alone. I enjoyed some delicious tapas, fell in love with some Gaudi architecture, wandered the Born District & La Rambla, feasted on some fresh juice and Iberian Ham, and did a little shopping.

Gaudi's La Casa Batlla- INCREDIBLE- pictures just don't do it justice!

After a blistering hot train ride back to Sitges with a very unhappy baby sitting behind me, I met up with Aida, Jasmin, Julia, Christian, and Michel at a German bar. We had some great discussions about the difficulties of German & English language and cultural differences among the youth in Germany vs. US vs. Spain. As all of my new au-pair friends are German, I had to remind them a few times to please translate some parts of their conversation so I could understand :). It's funny seeing their crazy expressions whenever I get excited about a story I'm telling and start speaking too fast.
the bar had these awesome taps at each table

Yesterday was a pretty relaxed day. Lou has been growing a lot these past weeks, and he's been extra tired these past few days. While he enjoyed a 4 hour nap yesterday, I went to the pool to swim a few laps and take a nap in the sun. When Lou finally woke up, Imke and I took him into Sitges for some delicious gelato and a walk along the beach.

Today Imke, Lou and I went into the nearby Vilanova to go to the public market where we picked up some cheese (YESSSS!) and fruit. Then we stopped for a croissant and coffee and a little merry-go-round ride before the car ride back home, where Lou instantly fell asleep after an already busy day.
